Not too hateful and allows for an 8 core cpu...im still not 100% sold on a watercooler set up though.

If you don't want to do a water cooled setup, then I would go with the Cryorig R1 Ultimate. It's a dual-finstack air cooler that looks gorgeous.

Ok, guys I'm working on putting together my first PC build. And I wanted to get a little advice on what I'm looking to purchase and make sure I'm getting the most for my money and the inended use. I'm live in the states and my use for this build is 4k video editing along with everyday home office/school task, streaming music, Netflix etc.

My budget for the build not including any monitors, keyboard, mouse etc is around $2500. I would push the budget a little if the I can justify the increase. I plan on using a 4k ultrawide monitor on the system as well.

So here is what I have come up with after days of watching youtube and surfing newegg. Please let me know if I'm going in the right direction and if there is something that would benefit me more that Ishould look at changing.

Build List:

Corsair 540 Cube Case

Gigabyte Ultra Gaming X99 Motherboard

Intel Core I7 5820K

ASUS ROG Gforce GTX 1070 STRIX video card

EVGA 1000 power supply

Samsung 850 Pro SSD 512 GB (boot drive)

WD Black 6T HDD (Mass Storage)

Cooler master V8 or Air Maker CPU cooler ( I'm not wanting to go the liquid cooled route)

Some sort of Blueray/CD/DVD optical drive

32 GB of Corsair Vengence LPX Memory

Lower the psu wattage, you don't need a 1000watt for a gtx1070. Something along the line of 600watt should be fine, heck even a 500W would be fine if you don't plan to SLI or xfire

Are you using this for gaming too? I'd say it's pretty solid, I've got a 4790K and 1070 w 16gb of RAM. I'd suggest you lower your RAM capacity unless you know you'll be using at least 70% of the 32GB under load, if not then use what you save somewhere else. If this was just an editing workstation I might suggest a xeon but the 5820k should meet your needs. Also if you had any fears about water cooling but you wanted to do it, Corsair covers your whole system with their AIO coolers.

System: i7 4790K, Hyper 212 EVO, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix, GTX 1070 Super clocked, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, Corsair RM 750, Corsair 750D (with 2 additional 140mm NZXT fans up top for exhaust.)

Here's a slightly modified list:

> The X99 Fatality from ASRock has some great reviews, and will help that 500GB M.2 SSD actually use its full speed (instead of using the SATA bus).

> Be careful about which Asus 1070 you buy because one version of the STRIX uses a stock PCB and the other uses the custom. custom PCB will offer slightly better overclocking/stock performance (and be a bit more money)

> Lowered the PSU but if you plan on SLI I would go with an 850 or higher

> I would recommend a 240mm radiator minimum whith the X99 platform but if you want to go air, you cant beat the NH-D15

> WD's 6TB HDD goes up quite a bit of money from the 5 TB version comparatively so that's why you see the 5TB and not the 6. obviously your choice though lol

Yes, My decision to not go water cooling has been based on the fear of losing a very expensive system if something goes wrong and  leaks and ruins my system. Id rather not go through the hassle. No I am not a gamer either and have no intentions of gaming on it.

All in one liquid coolers have a super small chance of leaking, much much less than custom water cooling. I use a 240MM radiator all in one for my 5820K and I have zero fear of it damaging anything

Ive looked at the quadro and  from what ive seen they are twice the price of a gaming card and don't provide a lot of added benefits.

Really only useful if your workload uses more than 12GB of VRAM (a titan)

only suggested because I didn't know the extent of OP's workload. I figured a Quadro was probably overkill

Yeah I'm not a professional video editor more of a hobbyist with a small workload. But when I buy something I like to get a bit more than I need at the time so I can grow into it and not be looking to replace it to soon.

1070 would do you good, I always go by "better to have and not need" so If you could lower the RAM to 16GB and the PSU to a 5 or 600 watt maybe see if that can get you a 1080? OR get a second monitor to go with the ultra wide. I have an ultra wide AND a 1080p 16:9 that I use to check the final edit. It wouldn't have to be anything fancy.

I believe that doesn't exist yet. PC Part Picker and Google tell me there aren't any 4K Ultrawides available at this time.

Sorry should'nt have said monitor... using a 4k tv as a monitor. But I'm pretty sure ACER just put one out its just way out of my range.

Not too hateful and allows for an 8 core cpu...im still not 100% sold on a watercooler set up though.

If you don't want to do a water cooled setup, then I would go with the Cryorig R1 Ultimate. It's a dual-finstack air cooler that looks gorgeous.

Any thoughts on the above mentioned setup vs the one I originally posted. Although the above setup is above my budget. It is that far out of budget that it would be out of the question.

I've lowered the price by grabbing the last gen 5960X (You could probably still get the 6900K), changing the water cooler with an air cooler, getting a cheaper motherboard, and swapping to a 500GB SSD. This also allowed me to fit a 4TB HDD into the mix too, even though it's a little less than you wanted, but it should still be plenty. And everything still fits into a nice black and white color scheme.
