Can anyone give advice on whats the smartest for me to upgrade first?

Sadly i cant upgrade it all at once so i would need to upgrade over some time.

Im having issues When playing games while watching a Video at the same time so i was thinking just upgrading my CPU and then keep using my 770.

My Setup:

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K
Motherboard: Z68A-D3H-B3 (Socket 1155)

Ram: 12GB Kingston

GFX: Nvidia Geforce GTX 770

SSD: 120GB Samsung 840 PRO

HDD: 2TB Seagate.

PSU: Corsair GS800

Screens: Asus VN247x2

Its 6-7 years old now only the graphics card have been upgraded it used to have a 570 back when i bought it.

What type of issues? What games are you playing? Get something like MSI afterburner and tell me your CPU and GPU usage while playing games and watching videos. Without that info my best advice would be to get something like a i5-6500 or 6600k paired with a decent motherboard as a first upgrade.

Gaming - Ryzen 9800X3D | 64GB 6400mhz cl30 9070 XT

Homelab - many servers...constantly changing.

3970X/256GB - 5950X/128GB ECC - 5600G/96GB - 3400GE/16GB - 3400GE/16GB

i5 2500k still have some life left, oc id if you didn't, if you already did it, see if there is a cpu bottleneck with a program like msi afterburner (but i don't think an oc'd 2500k can be a bottleneck to a 770)

the best upgrade is the graphic card, and a better cooler if you didn't oc'd the cpu.

a 1060 3gb is a very good upgrade, faster and a lot less power hungry (770 is basically an very old 680, no big differences..) , and you don't have to add a lot of money if you sell the 770

When im playing a game its at 95-99% and GFX is at around 90%
and thats just overwatch on High settings.

i think im gonna buy the I7 6700k and then later get a 1070 or the like, i just needed another opionon on it

i think it's  strange you hit 95-99% on overwatch, because it's a low cpu game..

as you can see a 2500k at stock  clock itsn't  a big bottleneck with a sli of 980 ti..  so an oc'd one without apps or virus problem, can be paired with a 1070 (one 980ti)..  there is no way it can slow down a 770..

I think you have to monitor your background apps or virus.. maybe you have like 50% cpu usage on idle..

and have you oc'd it? old overclockable cpu need to stay near breaking limits, they need an honorable die.

anyway the gpu upgrade is the best thing, because there are new intels incoming, so i7 6700k is already "old".

even at stock speeds i doubt a 2500k will bottleneck the 770
im currently running a phenom 1090t with a 770 and its still great at 1080p

okay if youre going to buy the 6700k (or even 6600k) please buy a z170 motherboard to go with it
its a real waste to spend money on a K cpu without being able to overclock it
