My computer keeps randomly turning itself off after about 2 hrs of it being on(The temps are normal and rarely get within 15C of the max temps). When I boot I get a "CPU fan error." My CPU fan works fine and I have done all I can to try and fix it. AND YES I DID TRY TO SET THE FAN SPEED TO IGNORE.

I want to know why my computer is crashing and if it can be fixed despite not being able to fix the fan error.

Mobo: Asus p7q57-m do (Latest Bios)

CPU: I3 560

That's strange.

First of all, can you turn it on again as it turns off? (if not it's 100% a temperature problem)

The first thing i'd check is the event viewer, if it states some kind of error, then, i'd check voltages. If the CPU receive bad voltages, or it's broken and manages the current not properly, it can shut down (like it was for temperature); since higher voltages lead to peaks in temperatures that make the computer turn off.

Then, the CPU fan. If you have a non stock heatsink, with bigger fan it's normal that spins at lower RPM, and sometimes this lead to an error. Obviously you should have plugged the fan in the right fan header.

In conclusion:if event viewer says nothing, i'd test the PSU, if everything is ok i'd install AIDA64 to check the CPU temperature and the CPU voltages (even other voltages, why not). If the voltages (and the temps) have higher short peaks, you probably found the problem.

I can turn the computer on right after it shuts down. Also when it shuts down it's immediate without warning. (One second I'm playing tf2 the next the computer is off) I ran Hwinfo's temp logging system and there were no temp spikes (records every 2 seconds) before it crashes.
