I'm looking for some software so I can record my gameplay offline, then show it to friends at 60 fps. a friend recommended OBS.

Any other suggestions?

OBS.

XSplit

NVidia "Share" option in GeForce Experience app (if you have nvidia card).

The nvidia app just had a big update, and as long as you got the really most current (which sort of works now) its pretty easy to use.

Otherwise OBS ... is probably easier to use than XSplit.

XSplit could be suggested as a better longer term fully featured option (full version is $ > 0 though).

Read some guides for OBS setups... then find out which your going to be using... /Intel Quicksync/Nvidia Shadowplay/AMD VCE Capture

System Specs?

Intel CPU's with or without a Dedicated GPU (AMD/Nvidia) can record using Quicksync in OBS (Performance free)

Nvidia GPU's would use Shadowplay (Performance free) by itself or in OBS

AMD GPU's can use a custom VCE codec (Performance free - but has to be downloaded n installed separate to a driver) to record from the GPU as well in OBS.

OBS is recommended because it can handle pretty much anything (once its setup properly)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

OBS is pretty nice though it does take a small amount of work to set up, especially for recording. By default it saves as flv, so you may want to save as mp4 or use a program like ffmpeg to transcode to whatever format you need. You also need to configure settings for things like resolution, frame rate, and bitrate, as well as scenes (I mean that you need to tell it what to record, basically, though this is super easy).

You could also use the Xbox DVR on Windows 10, though you need to configure your settings to allow for 60 FPS recording. It records at 30 FPS by default. I have also heard it raises your input lag a little.

Since you're using an AMD card (judging by your specs on your signature), there's Raptr, though I've heard it's utter garbage.

i have heard about the Nvidia built in one that its quite good, but i see that you have an AMD GPU (if the one in the signiture is what you have)... soooo... that wont work ...

some people like Dxtory, seems to not impact performance at all, but has really huge file sizes

and then there is OBS its really good cause it can handle anything

Mobo - Asus Maximus VI Formula Ram - Kingston HyperX Fury 1866mhz CL10 16GBCPU - Intel i7 4790K ;

GPU - Gainward RTX 2070 Phantom ; PSU - Corsair RM750x Cooler - CM Hyper 212 EVO

OBS is great. I've also tried Xsplit and it lagged like hell and wasn't user friendly.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

I did use shadowplay (nvidia share) Until I finally found the problem to the huge stuttering in GTA V......shadowplay.
I myself have tried OBS, even with the nvenc encoder and find myself getting 10fps drops, no matter the quality I set.

Did you max out the quality slider...for Mbps? In Shadowplay.

Cos you do get actual dips in FPS with higher bit rate recording in some cases.

Eg I have no fps hit with 50Mbps bitrates, but if i am using 100+ the fps suffers..

I've used ShadowPlay or "Share", but since you have AMD card you can't go wrong with OBS.

I had it on 50mbips at 1080p.
But I have tried other settings.
Also I had the frame counter on and turned share recording on and off and seen a frame drop of 2fps.
It's not frame drops that's the problem with shadowplay though, it's the stuttering/ micro stuttering.
Every game was fine apart from gta which is what I play most.

Edit, it also cause you to fall through the map on the new need for speed, though I don't play that anymore.
