Xeon cpu compatibility question

Go to solution Solved by GDRRiley,

no it is not, intels page is great if you can read and understand them.  It is just a odd bios thing.

Quick question,,

I dug up a working Intel DZ77GA-70K board (newegg link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121605 Intel: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/desktop-boards/intel-desktop-boards-with-intel-z77-express-chipset/intel-desktop-board-dz77ga-70k.html).

I was wondering if a Xeon E3-1220 (http://ark.intel.com/products/52269/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E3-1220-8M-Cache-3_10-GHz). would work in that board.

Intel's page is extremely useless and really gives no hints. I looked at pcpartpicker which was at that point my best source for information since intel's page was terrible and pcpartpicker showed them as incompatible. I don't understand why they would be incompatible though considering that their socket is compatible and the E3-1220 is on the compatibility list of other Z77 motherboards.

Thank's for clarifying

Ok, thanks

Intel's page was just confusing and not the normal layout i'm used to compared to other manufacturers.
