right, im planning to liquid cool my pc which severely limits my storage in terms of 3.5" drives DUE TO having a front rad (40mm).

according to corsair website each drive cage thing can have 3 drives, ill only have 1 drive cage

i was think 2x2tb WD black drives in raid 0 or 3x2TB wd black

1x m.2 950pro or 960 evo (512gb) as boot drive

and for back up of the whole computer im thinking of getting a 4 bay NAS

i download alot of 1080p content, FLACS/high quality music, 1080 recording game play, game mods

what would be my choices.

i also would have 3 x 2.5" drive bays spare but i probably wont fill these

i have 1tb in my laptop which isnt enough for my needs with (788 out of 931gb) used and ive wiped everything once and ive had the laptop a year.

many thanks

Well, if you get the NAS it'll help for sure... all the gameplay/1080/flac etc can be stored on the NAS (just make sure you also get a backup drive too in case of NAS/disk failure, don't bother with raid on the NAS IMO as it's not a backup solution. The stuff that's stored on the NAS can be streamed to your devices when you want to access it, and also bypass the PC/laptop when storing it so you don't have to move it  eg when downloading set the NAS as the "TO" drive/folder. That's how I have mine set up and it works perfectly, I stream my BD rips (usually around 35-50GB) from my NAS no problem to my gigabit wired equipment like my pc/shield tv box, but not sure of my wireless devices as I haven't tried it TBH.

i was thinking raid 0 in my pc, raid 1 in the nas, i would prefer to store most things on my pc, and use the NAS purely for back up

Ahh ok, yeah that'd work... I just prefer to not store stuff on my PC as it gets tiring to copy stuff across etc when I re-install. Storing on the NAS works for most files as they are mostly low bitrates and streaming them is no problem. But yes, storing them on PC and using a NAS for backup would be OK, just seems redundant in a way to use a NAS like that, you might as well just get a WD mycloud or even just USB 3.0 storage drive TBH.

i was thinking of imaging or automatically backing up (tbh idk what or how it works) weekly e.g every sunday.

I would probably put the movies on the nas, not so much the music

im looking at this NAS

I haven't used that NAS before, but Qnap are OK from what I have read. If that's the way you want to go, then that's cool, I use Freefilesync for my backups, it's a great program and is free too :)
