Hi, I usually don't come here for help but I'm seriously stumped. My PC keeps shutting off due to what i presume is a heat issue, because every other time I've encountered this problem it has been such. It'll shut off whenever the system is stressed, further suggesting heat issues. I've checked heat values under stress, and things are looking okay. I haven't been able to check psu temperatures. This is worrysome because it would make sense that it would overheat while components demand more power, no? Anyways, I'll likely post this in multiple threads because it's not strictly air cooling problems. Any and all help is much appreciated! Thanks! -David

AMD FX-6300 (Corsair H60 cooling)

Msi gtx 1070 (I know it's bottlenecked but I'm broke)

16 gb gskill ripjaws

750W EVGA platinum psu

Is anything overclocked? (if so, have you tried running things at stock and then stress testing?)

Also, what motherboard do you have?

No, I haven't bothered overclocking.

What specifically (what programs/load) causes the system to crash?

What are the CPU/GPU temps?

I started up overwatch and everything runs fine, frames are great, but after a few minutes everything abruptly shuts off. Windows startup repair has come up once in the few times I've let this happen, and I restored from a month old save, same problems.

As for heat values, GPU was around 45 degrees Celsius under load, cpu sat around 35. (Sorry that these are approximate, I don't want to test it again and again)

Dust can be an issue for overheating, when was the last time you cleaned your pc?

I hadn't cleaned it in weeks, but I did try cleaning everything but my heat plate. I have some extra thermal paste lying around, should I try reapplying?

download/run Prime 95. Then download/run Heaven benchmark. See which (if either) cause the system to crash.

ran both, temperatures peaked at around 65 degrees, but i realized halfway through that my gpu fan isnt turning on, which i thought i had dealt with in MSI afterburner. I redesigned the curve at which fan speeds picked up, and kept it at a basic 40% speed, slowly picking up as heat increases. Apparently I need afterburner open for these changes to always apply? Is there any way around this, or should I look for other solutions?

Carefully remove the thermal paste by using cotton and outting alcohol on it then apply a small dot on the one that you're gonna reapply it on. By the way do you have dust filters?
