So when I originally was looking for ram I decided to shell out an extra 5 dollars to go from DDR4 2400 ram to DDR4 3000. And after I ordered it and recieved it I noticed while my Mobo supported those speeds my CPU (i5 6600k) did not. Is it possible to run ram higher than the max supported by the 6600k by some means or will I just have to run it downclocked to 2166?

Of course it is, it's a 6600k. But yeah, is XMP enabled? That's what lets you OC RAM iirc

just need to cover all the bases. xmp is the preset ram profiles. otherwise, you need to manually oc the ram
