Hello,

I have a MSI X99S Sli Plus motherboard with 4 Crucial DDR4 4GB RAM sticks. Today I bought a Ballistix 16GBx1 DDR4 stick, but whenever I add it, the system won't boot (it turns off after some seconds). I also tried replacing one of the 4Gb stick with it, but I've got the same result. I also tried removing all 4Gb RAM sticks and leaving the new one alone, but it didn't work.

What I would like to know is: am I doing something wrong, or the RAM is incompatible with my motherboard?

they got different timings, that might be a source of the problem, tried booting with only the new RAM in place? if that doesnt work the stick is defective.
If only the new stick does work it's probably the timings that dont cooperate.

May the light have your back and your ISO low.

RAM plays odd tricks especially if specs are different. Overall it causes these kind of troubles. Also make sure it's in proper slots and not messsing up with dual/quadchannel support what could be very likely in this case.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.
