So my only camera is my phone (Xiaomi Mi3), and I do guitar covers every now and again.

But I prefer to use the back camera for quality, and it's annoying to hit record and hope I'm in frame.

My thought was just use a screen mirroring app so I can see where I am on my PC screen while I record. I've tried a few

and they're always crummy versions that make me connect to an ip address through my browser, and they lag terribly. Literally

only updating the frame every 5 seconds. I used one on iOS once a while back, and it gave flawless connection at full resolution,

but required me downloading software on my PC to use (which I was okay with). Been struggling to find anything decent on Android,

so hoping someone can suggest something solid that might be buried at the bottom of search results :P

And also it isn't my connection. I have 176 down and 20 up with the most top of the line router our ISP gave us. Just been bad apps >.>

Thanks [:

Oh and yea I can settle with these for just checking if I'm in frame, but if something good comes up, I can also use it as a webcam and do other things with it which would help a ton.

I might be thinking a bit outside the box here, but what about positioning a mirror behind the phone, so that when you want to check if you're in frame you look in the mirror and are able to see the phone's screen?

That's fine, and a good idea too. It's come up, but I don't have any mirrors in the house, unless I wanna prop myself up in the bathroom :P

Do you have a miracast device that you can connect to the computer monitor (such as a chromecast, roku, etc.)?

Then you can use the cast screen option on your phone to check the feed

I don't unfortunately since I don't have a TV. My gaming desktop is my movie watcher so didn't think I'd get much benefit from putting it in my monitor to do the things my PC can already do anyways

What i mean is to connect a chromecast to your gaming setup monitor (or if there is no available hdmi ports you can always get a hdmi splitter box od some kind)

This is actually a good idea.

Almost all Laptops will support you doing a Mircacast to the laptop screen (on Windows 10 that is).

Most desktops dont support it directly, but if you got a WiFI / Bluetooth network card (Intel WiDi support) then you can just Mircacast the screen to the PC as well.

Oh okay, so they can cast the phone screen to Windows? Or just switching over inputs? Either's fine, but yea. I have a desktop with a 960, and a monitor with display port and HDMI inputs. Chromecast then..?

if you have available hdmi ports, great just plug that sucker in. If you don't however, just get a hdmi to displayport adapter since they are can work with each other passively

So, you want to see your phone on your PC? Am I understanding this correctly?

If so, assuming your computer has a modern half decent wireless card and Windows 10 then just fire up Connect app, and miracast your phone your PC, like you would on a TV with mircast support. Nothing special to do :)

Here is a random picture from the internet of an Android phone connected to it:
