I've posted this here because the threads I've made on the obsforum have all remained stagnant and lifeless for months now. Hoping Ltt can offer help.

To cut a long story short, I play on a 144hz monitor and record at 60fps. However, when my monitor is set to 144hz, the video I record stutters. If I set my monitor to 60hz, the problem is gone. Recording at 120fps changes nothing. Mirillis Action also mimics this behavior. Setting the monitor to anything above 60hz brings this problem.

Nothing.

Have you tried using ShadowPlay? Just assuming you're using Nvidia cards if you're playing 4K at 144Hz... :P

OBS is better and more customizable.

ShadowPlay is good if you just dont want to tinker around.

For OP:

sorry IDK.

Sounds like a software problem. New recording software or just set it to refresh to 60Hz like everyone else.

Oh I'm at 1080p. Don't mind the 4k res, I was trying something. I'll try shadowplay. Here's actually what's happening. The 60hz was recorded on an older laptop, but it still outputted 60fps quite a bit of the time. Left is 144 (buggy trail), right is 60. (not buggy trail)

Nothing.

4k @144Hz What kind of sorcery is this? I didn't think that was a thing yet...

Yes people always want bigger numbers even when it doesn't make any difference.

I know, I use OBS Studio and I wouldn't trade it for anything else, but since it wasn't working properly ShadowPlay might be worth a try.

Are you recording to SSD or HDD? The drive might not be fast enough for you recording at 60fps.

WD Blue 1Tb. I'm assuming it's quick enough since the example was recorded on a 5400rpm drive from 3 years ago.

Nothing.

OK. Have you tried 30fps while having 144Hz.
