sorry should have said, painting outer body of the radiator only, gonna cover the fins so they stay clean

Ok then, but i'd still use those plugs i showed ya'

Before some one shouts at me, I don't plan on using these for actually system loop stuff, just as a way to keep the ports clean when I paint the radiator bodies, my question is probably stupid though, there isn't any risk of cheap fittings damaging the ports on the rad right? surely G1/4 is G1/4 so it should be fine?

I wouldnt paint the radiator's, as the paint can get inbetween the fins, reducing their effectiveness at dissipating heat.

If you must, you can just get plugs that screw in, like this : http://koolance.com/nozzle-socket-plug

THey like 2$ each, and will do you perfectly.

Koolance is a great company, i always use their fittings

Get masking tape and cover the fins. Don't paint them unless you have a airbrush and strip the old paint first. It will take very thin paint to paint the fins without clogging them. Use the fittings no problem there.

Like I said above, only painting the outer body of the radiator, should have mentioned that in the original post

You can also use a ball of paper towel. It will absorb the paint and make a clean transition. I do that all the time on engine blocks. https://www.dropbox.com/home/engine?preview=2016-08-15+00.58.17.jpg

I did the paper towel trick and also cut cardboard to cover the fins in addition to masking tape - jayz2cents did a video on it.

Works fine.
