Hey folks, I need your help with my overclock, I just got am used 4670k and a new Gigabyte Z97P-D3, both for 200 bucks, a major upgrade from my Phenom II x4 965, now my GTX 970 isn't bottlenecked anymore.

I pushed the CPU to 4.3Ghz with a VCore of 1.225v (stable at 72°C max temp after 30min on Prime95) but can't seem to get to 4.4Ghz even at 1.3v, I'm not new to overclocking, done it on older AMDs and Intels, but some new options on the UEFI are so misleading, since many got to 4.6Ghz, I'm asking for your help.

I didn't touch anything else, I put the RAM at 1600mhz at 1.5v (stock voltage) and that's it.

The general specs:

4670k + Dark Rock Pro 2

Gigabyte Z97P-D3

Zotac GTX970

8GB (2x4) Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1866mhz

OCZ Fatality 550w 80+

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

There are many reasons why your new clocks might be unstable. It could be the CPU, main board, software, PSU, electrical noise and so on. Over clocking headroom is hard to judge. I'm certainly no expert but I know it can be a tricky proposition.

Yep. 1.3V is a bit high for 4.4 GHz. My 5820K can run 4.4 @1.2V.

im running at 1.335V to get 4.7GHz but mine dosent do much more then stock before you go over 1.3V lol
