there first has to be an opening infront of the bays to the front of the case and outside. But yeah, ghetto rigging is probably your best best. nothing a little duct tape and zip ties wont fix. you can probably get a small magnetic dust filter to put infront of the bays also

Yeah there is. as of now I have 4 bays, the bottom has my optical. the top 3 are wide open. they're just clip in mesh grills per each bay. I have resorted to twist ties for now. I just don't like the inch gap it leaves on the top/ side of the fan. I suppose I could get a 140mm? here's a pic of the front. the fan is doing its job I would just like it to not be off center. filters are not an issue I can get on top of that.

those covers will probably be a filter enough. Might want to get a static pressure fan though, depending on how tight or restricting you think the mesh is

That picture was taken before I had put the fan in. I took the filters off of each bay prior to putting it in. glad to see we are on the same page. I'll just use the tape method until I can get a 140. I'll probably still have to use tape but at least it won't look funky. you've been a huge help bro, thanks a lot.

on another note, what do you think of my side fan? i'm stressing over whether or not it's creating stagnant air. I feel the air going in/ out but can't just stick my hand in to see where the air from the side is going.

As long as your front fans are intake and your back fans are exhaust then the air that come in the side will follow that flow. Unless your rear fan is intake also. Who knows where the air goes then
