So I just bought a new ATX Motherboard to upgrade my mATX motherboard and add 2 additional RAM.

Here's my questions.

Is upgrading motherboard simple as plug and play? I just plug all other components to the new motherboard and will I be able to play?

Will my files in SSD and HDD be affected like something will be missing?

Any additional advice?

Motherboards require specific drivers. Its best (in my terms) to reinstall windows when installing a new motherboard.

Start from a clean slate and avoid any conflicting driver issues.

Yes, but I have a question for you

Do you have an atx case?

I wouldn't say that the motherboard is plug and play.

Unless your intent is soldering the 2nd to the 1st.

Changing your motherboard may unactivate windows keys, so contact microsoft support for that, or do the right thing and get Linux :P

Windows 10 is remarkably tolerant of hardware changes.  Licensing aside, I've pulled drives out of 8-10 year old AMD dual-core machines, and put them onto Ivy Bridge and Haswell systems without issue.

Have proper backups, of course, just in case something messes up, but the old rule of thumb to re-install Windows with a new motherboard is something that really should be put to rest.

When I'd changed to a Z170 motherboard last February I also changed my RAM and reinstalled Windows to a SSD.  I did have to reactivate Windows but it was really easy.  All I had to do was click on a link thing in system properties that was prompting me to activate it and it had me put in my cell number I think.   Then I got texted a code to type into a prompt that came up which authenticated Windows being used on the same computer and Windows was activated and good to go.

If you wanted to plug your motherboard into the 1st motherboard. Everyone else answered your question well enough, but keep in mind that you may need to call or reactivate your Windows key.
