CPU Compatibility

Hi all,

 

So i have this board with Q67 chipset and running a sandy bridge processor (Pentium G630) and as the socket is 1155 I wanted to know weather can i run a 3rd gen CPU or not? like a ivy bridge core i5 3300. Or an i7 for that matter because they use the same socket 1155. And what is the chipset for ivy bridge? And what would be the difference if I use that chipset motherboard vs Q67 chipset motherboard?

What board. Its on the mobo's support page.

Sadly, no. Q65 and Q67 don't support Ivy Bridge processors regardless of if the BIOS is updated.

Basically, yeah. Intel's website has a list of compatible processors for this motherboard:

There are still some pretty decent processors to be found, here.
