I'm I'm pretty much decided on a new GPU to replace my aging 780 GTX. I'm most likely going to get the EVGA 1070. I haven't decided on which model I want, I do want that sexy founder's edition version. Do the cheaper versions of the EVGA 1070 cards offer any better cooling, performance than the founder's? I'm not looking to overclock, I just want a solid card that is quiet and has good cooling. Side note: I tend to skip every other generation of graphics cards when I am upgrading, you think a 1070 GTX would still be playing modern games 3 years from now at 60+ fps at at least 1080p (not upgrading to 4k till I think the price of a quality monitor is worth it) but considering how more optimized games are getting with DX12 and Vulkan I personally think a 1070 GTX will still be running games at a solid frame rate.

Dont buy the founders, poor cooling for a higher price. If you dont have a high refresh rate monitor, I wouldn't buy the 1070, it's a waste. The 1060 is easily powerful to play games max/high for the next 3 years at 1080p 60fps, buy that instead.

The gtx 1070 is a monster of a card. I have heard some good things about the Asus strix 1070. I'm still rocking an r7 250 ?

I have a g-sync monitor so yes I have a high refresh rate screen. But I like to use 1080p/1440p60fps as a baseline for how I want my games to run. And I like to least future proof my systems just in case.

I have done quite a bit of testing personally with the EVGA GTX 1060 Superclocked, 1070 Superclocked, and the 1080 FTW. I would highly suggest you go for the 1070 over the 1060 if you plan to use it for the next 3 years. I would stay away from Founders Edition cards. If you want EVGA, go with the 1070 ACX 3.0 or 1070 Superclocked. Both are the same card, but the Superclocked comes overclocked while the ACX 3.0 does not.

Is it 144hz? G-sync doesnt do anything past your monitors refresh rate. As I said, 1060 should still last 3 years, 1070 even longer at 1080p. If playing at 1440p or 1080p 144hz, buy 1070. If 1080p 60hz, 1060. If you wish to "future proof", fine, just dont waste money overdoing it if upgrading after 3 years anyway.
