Help with GPU

Hi there, im new, hoping to get some understanding and help.
I have The gtx 960 2gb Windforce x3 Edition.
Im having problems running some games, lacks of gb in the card.
I don't have that much money, so my question is should i buy the: Gigabyte GeForce GTX1060 WF OC 6GB.
Or should i wait for the Gtx 1080 to drop in value?
I been reading on some reviews for the card and it beats the 960 afcourse, but in a long run, new games coming, is it wurth buying the GTX 1060 now?

The GTX 1060 6GB is a perfectly capable 1080p card for now. Whether it's 'worth' it or not is entirely dependent on you and your financial situation.

 

Don't expect the GTX 1080 to drop in value until AMD's Vega cards start coming out. Either that or when Volta arrives.

 

Just get the GTX 1060.

The 1060 3/6gb are good choices for mid/high level settings in 1080p. The 1080 even after the 1080ti release won't have a massive price drop, at least not enough to make it a statement in this topic.

A 1070 could possible be an option, but even used prices will be far more then the 1060 6gb version.

 

Personally, I would just run a 1060 6gb and not worry about it. If you were running a 960 2gb prior then you will be extremely happy in the increased performance.

i have a 2k monitor and while i was waiting for my 1070 to come in the mail i borrowed my friends 1060 and it worked great. maxed any esports title (league, overwatch) even at 144hz and even ran paragon on medium to high settings at ~80 frames.  it is a great card for a 1080p system.  and you would never need a 1080 for 1080p gaming

Well, i also read on some test that the 1070 was way further up on the test list then the 1060. but the only difference i found was that the 1060 had 192bit and the 1070 had 256bit.
Will i really know the difference between the cards?

If its helpfull i have 144hz screen, ( BENQ XL2411Z) if further details on my pc setup i think its in my profile if needed.

If you want to take advantage of your 144hz then yes, you will want a 1070 to try and stay up around there at 1080p. Even a 1070 won't stay that high in all titles unless you lower some settings.

well the price on the 1070 is so much higher compared to the 1060 right now, and the only difference is the 256bit witch i cant seem to understand completely, will i know the difference.

There is more differences then just the bit rate. If you do some research on the specifications you will see that the 1070 is a vastly different setup.

i think u should wait for the 1050 and the 1050ti because the performace is better than a 970, no pcie power needed and it is cheap too.

P.S: gtx 1050 and 1050 ti have 2 version,a 2gig and a 4 gig
