Looks pretty decent, though I've heard stories of Seagate Drives failing unexpectedly, so just keep that in mind.

Yeah, go for a 6GB 1060 just to be safe, and if you still have money left, add a boot SSD.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Take a look at the newegg reviews. There's just too many failing without SMART warnings, etc for me to have peace of mind. You of course, might be different, but I almost never back up so if I lost it, I'll lose it forever.

Both failed within a week of each other.

This review is from: Seagate Desktop HDD ST2000DM001 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: They both failed within a week, not sure if I would recommend.

END QUOTE

That was top review for 2TB so that's why I'm a bit concerned about the quality of Seagate hard drives.

No, I did date posted (first 7/10 approximately were "my drive failed after ___ years")

However, the top comment still isn't the best (though the next few are far better)

Spoiler

Leaves me worried

This review is from: Seagate Desktop HDD ST2000DM001 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Drive has passed all extensive tests. However there's a worrying .2sec screech scratch noise, that everyone seems to be experiencing. There's still no real official word as to what it is, other than switching off APM (using third party tools) stops the random noise.

Cons: On the Seagate forum theres a huge discussion on the subject. What's worrying though is NO-ONE has said the sound is normal, and to avoid any repurcussion, Seagate's forum admin has since closed the thread. So you have to ask yourself..... As I said, its passing all tests, and if you turn off APM the sound goes away.. But Seagate seem slow on how to resolve, and no-one from there has said yup that's normal.

Well, whaddya know? They have 2 versions of the drive. One's good (yours, presumably) and the other one's complete crap that'll fail in 6 months.

You probably noticed the reviews of this seem rather polarized. Well that's because there are two versions of this drive. If you get the right one, it's fast, quiet, and reliable. If you get the other, it's slower, makes noises, and will die on you. I ordered 2 and got one of each. The telltale sign of the bad drive is the shallow curved indention in the upper right (the picture of the drive on NE in fact IS the bad one). The good one has a much deeper groove. That's because it has 2 1tb platters instead of 3 666gb ones. They can't promise you which you'll get. I tried. I ended up getting a second one somewhere else where I could guarantee what it was.
