Bypassing Windows 7 Login Screen

Tieox
Go to solution Solved by Electronics Wizardy,

Yes.

Unplug the computer when it says starting windows.

You will be a option to do startup repair. Do that

It will fail and give you a log file, open that, go under the save menu and go under windows system32. Then rename osk.exe to osk.exe.old and rename cmd.exe to osk.exe. Now whenever you open a onscreen keyboard you get a admin command prompt to restet the password.

This usb does the same thing https://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/

Ok, I am about to tear my hair out on this one.

Ever guide says boot into safe mode with CMD Prompt, yet to use the CMD Prompt I have to log in an account, THANKS so fucking useful when I don't know the fucking password for the laptop I've been handed to remove data from.

Now before I go and download a tool is there a way to load CMD prompt from the login screen? because the guides I'm seeing assume I can just log in an account.

I cannot login the computer, it seems everyone assumes I can, the laptop was buggered about by a clients lad and he changed all the codes, nobody knows the access codes!

I am tasked with removing the data, currently trying a repair boot from a Win 7 dvd, to try and access CMD Prompt, So I can change the access codes for one of the accounts and gain admin rights.

Which has just failed since it demands a bloody admin code to access command prompt when booted from my Win 7 dvd.

That will work. If you just want the data you can put the drive in a serprate system and just drag and drop.

Can't you install the hard drive in an external enclosure, retrieve all important data and then do a clean install? It's the easiest way.

System recovery via safe mode.   I cannot get the damn thing to boot and let me into the bios to change to boot from DVD.

Did you read my post?

There is a way to enter the file system through system recovery and notepad and change file names.

If I F8 then go into system recovery it demands an admin code from one of the accounts on the computer.  Removing the drive would be an option but I do not have a caddy handy with me ( guess what i lent out this afternoon?)

Force the system off when it says starting windows. You will get a startup recovery option. Don't use the f8 one.

The Power button powers it up, but the keyboard lock button powers it down when booting.

I swear this computer is designed to troll me.

Finally making some headway now got startup repair working and will do the good old CMD trick you mentioned.

Its takes a while, but will fail. There is a option for show errors and a log file. Open that

View Diagnostic and repair details.

And View Advanced (clicked this took me to an admin login page which I don't have the code for )

Loads a prompt window type applet which is definitely not notepad.  My ONLY option is to close the window.

I though there should be a drop down with a log file somewhere. I forget where.

If not, just put the drive in a different system or boot from a usb drive, the network or a cd drive.
