21:9 vs 16:9

Hi, I am looking to upgrade my old monitor 1080p 21-inch to either 27-inch (16:9) or 29-inch (21:9). What would be you guys thought about it? I don't mind resolution as much since I don't see much different on 1080p or 1440p. I don't mind whether it is gloss or matte as well. My usage for the monitor are for gaming (both pc and ps4) and multi-task work (spreadsheet, research, autocat etc for engineering class).  My concern on 21:9 is that I will see black side bar on my ps4 when I play game on it. is it true? can it be fixed? Thanks guys for your replay.

not even every PC game supports 21:9, to be honest I highly doubt any PS4 game will run properly on it without black bars, especially since it is more pixels for the extended width, the PS4 wouldn't have the power to just render stuff there too; so to avoid black bars I would stick with 16:9.

maybe horribly stretched, but not native

as for PC gaming, I've got a 21:9 panel currently, and love it. You get such a wide FOV compared to normal 16:9

some games have started supporting 21:9 on consoles... I would go 21:9 anyway as its much better for immersion and productivity even if the games you play aren't 21:9
