Project : Package

JakeGFX

Hey, JakeGFX is back to bring you back another great build.

I'm back to bring you project : package.

What is Project : Package ?

It's gonna be a prodigy build.

Yes I know that prodigy has been modded by many modders.

But mine is gonna be special in some way

I'm going to use black and gold theme beleive it or not.

What is the inspiration ?

Since asrock itx bord has a black and gold theme, I mean hell why not.

I'm gonna use black as my main color.

With a few gold highlights like my fittings and maybe my pump.

Why ?

I'm always moving.

Weekdays at home and Weekends at aunt's house.

I mean I love my Blacklist build but it's in home.

So I wanted to have a second computer which is compact and I can transport around.

So I pick a small computer.

I normally hate small form factor cases but I hope I can do it justice.

What to expect ?

Things to expect in this build is that this build is going to be slow.

I have plans for ordering parts worldwide.

Plus my funding has been cut short meaning I have no funds.

Meaning that I have no funds and I have to wait for my pocket money.

You will expect disaster, a little bit modding.

Some types of rant.

MNPCtech's Computer Case Handles.

You will expecting a very clean build.

Meaning no airbrush or any airbrushing details.

Only spraypaint will come close to this.

A very special window I have planned.

Watercooling

Update 1

The first update has started.

I got a new dremel.

Here's some screenshot of the dremel 3000.

It has 15 accessories.

You going to expect some cutting of metal and plastic.

Here's some afternoon shot on a 35 degree celcius sun glaring at it.

I shoot with a Sony NEX-F3 if anyone was wondering.

Update 2

CPU has arrived, no PSU has been bought yet so I will not assemble it.

Motherboard also have arrived, but that's for update 3.

Enjoy the close-up shot.

Next item to buy is the PSU.

I never thought ITX board was that small, so I don't know what to expect for a prodigy.

Update 3

Motherboard update is here.

I bought in a bundle with my processor.

It's so tiny!!!

ITX board, why you so small.

I'll make you guys see the accessories first before the board.

So hopefully prodigy won't be that small.

And the quick installation guide, ain't quick.

Look at the amount of pages -.-

P.S. I love black IO shield.

Make's me feel so high-end.

And makes feel like I'm an enthusiast.

And sorry for the green reflection, Was watching ghost adventure.

Update 4

Since it is going to be long term project.

I installed the stock heatsink because better to check if it works before putting it in.

I'm using tuniq tx-4.

Don't ask me why, I just found it in my cupboard.

Extra photo incase you guys get bored.

Do you guys know there is a msata at the back :o/>

And someone complained that they can't put backplate because some chips are blocking.

We'll see

Update 5

Got my ram, it's a mushkin frostbyte.

To be honest, I don't like it that much but it's the only one left.

Or I could pick avexir but I hate blinking/breathing led because I know for a fact it hurts the eye.

I had a ballistix ram be4, and I hated looking at it.

It came with a sticker.

Modder don't like stickers.

Rip them off. Sorry it looks abit dusty because the adhesive was very sticky.

Anyway to clean it.

I try alcohol.

When i'm taking stickers off i always heat them up with a hairdryer first, come off alot easier, quicker and cleaner.

Nice photo work, going to be a tight fitting build by the sounds of it. Hope you get it finished

Update 8

Prodigy is here.

Prodigy has a very nice build.

Very thick metal, no flex to it.

Here's some shot of most of the features that I really like about the prodigy.

I have taken off the top's handle.

It looks ugly in my opinion.

Maybe going to keep the bottom.

The handle is lock with 6 screws and a slider.

I drilled out 2 screws out of the 6 screws.

Because bitfenix doesn't want me to take off the screw with a normal screwdriver.

I also taken out of the hdd cage by drilling 1 of the 6 screws holding it.

And let's just say the same thing happened to 5.25 bay but is 1 out of 4 screws.

I was so furious at the time that I just bent the whole bay because I had enough.

Enjoy this night shot with an extra picture of how I kept my screw (credits to bill owen).

And the (front/side) connectors.

Ok I'm gonna try something different.

I won't put what update because it is split into many parts.

This is gonna be a very descriptive update.

First of all I would start with what I want to cut first.

The top part where it holds the fan filter for the top.

This is entirely different from any other build that you ever seen in a prodigy mod.

I always want to be different, so I find different ways to stand out.

I put on masking tape and start cutting.

I start putting caption on top of each picture now.

Let's start by me marking the lines I want to cut with a pen.

DSC00871_zps01a1b599.jpg

DSC00872_zpsda6e0dbe.jpg

Water + Metal shavings. Looks so beautiful in my opinion.

DSC00873_zpsbd012270.jpg

My first cut (before using sanding attachment)

DSC00875_zps3b40a69f.jpg

After sanding

DSC00876_zpsb42cf147.jpg

DSC00879_zps5533c2da.jpg

Metal shavings all over the case.

DSC00877_zps49df1c03.jpg

Piece I cut.

DSC00878_zpsb7d23bb8.jpg

Here's the other side. I did the same thing. That side is shorter. The picture is the following : (cut without sand, remove masking tape, after sand)

DSC00880_zps86a4ebd4.jpg

DSC00881_zps77732503.jpg

DSC00882_zps82e4ad5e.jpg

And last but not least.

A shot overall after both cuts.

Next update will be what i got on my hardware store & in the mail.

Well since I want to save space.

I will go only SSD.

Maybe a second SSD in the future.

It's an M4 256gb.

It's expensive to me.

Here's some shot.

DSC00891_zpsed3757ff.jpgDSC00892_zps5835b0b3.jpgDSC00893_zps43ced981.jpg

So since I was going for a black and gold theme.

The blue sticker for the SSD won't cut it.

So.... Let's remove it.

In my opinion, it looks sleek.

I remove both stickers.

Here's some shots.

I wanted to change stuff that I didn't like.First the SSD brackets.

I hated the mesh so I cut it out.

It doesn't have to be clean since it will be in the side in the darkness.

This pictures are before, after, and after with SSD.

DSC00896_zpscea1d2e8.jpg

DSC00900_zps9afd896d.jpg

DSC00901_zpsc71c4574.jpg

The side where the bracket is located.

DSC00897_zpsfb35ef46.jpg

I used diamond cutting disc for this.

I found that it's way easier for the brown colour blade which left alot of shaving.

DSC00899_zps1d1d9289.jpg

I was bored while at that time so I painted my fan grill gold.

DSC00898_zpsa07b6cbf.jpg

And this are some misc.

Items that I bought.

Acrylic cutter/plastic cutter.

Dremel Chuck.

New sets of small drills.

The rig's currently is alive and I'm using it now to update this update. Updateception....

Here's a blurry pic, Sorry because it was a night show.

Most orangey lighting is night shots.

Sorry if it looks low quality.

DSC00905_zps76920124.jpg

I hate the current honeycomb front so I cut it off.

Sorry I have no before but only have after.

Here's an overall shot and a after shot.

GORILLA GLUE!!

I know gorilla glue has a reputation for leaving a shiny residue and I'm aiming for a matte finish.

You can cover it with a pad with black paint. Kinda difficult but it works.

MNPCTech UPDATE!!

This update is from a package by Bill.

Thanks for the *shipping* *wink wink*

First is the handles.

The most expensive part and most thrilled about part of my build.

Is to carry around places, so the handles is the most important.

I'm gonna add in the card too. Product Placement.

DSC00913_zps6cfd7cf3.jpg

And the God Of Tapes!!

I repalce my adhesives cable ties with one of these in my Blacklist build for the cathodes.

Works like a charm.

DSC00914_zps255b0436.jpg

U-channel. Looks smaller than I thought.

DSC00915_zpsa7967ab9.jpg

Finally, the scotchbrite pad.

It comes in 3 pack and it is way bigger than I expected.

A substitute for sandpaper.

What I found out is that it makes like a brush aluminium finish.

DSC00916_zps691c811b.jpg

P.S. Thanks bill for the shirt.

Haven't got the chance to wear it yet as it's 95 degrees here.

Ok, let's change something about the case.

I used the scotchbrite pad to rough up the texture of the case.

It gives a brush aluminium and yet a gun metal look.

Here's some top shot of the case.

DSC00922_zps8fde1420.jpg

DSC00923_zpsb099f9f0.jpg

DSC00924_zps0d80fcfd.jpg

Next for the update is the mnpctech handle. I first drill a small hole and then just slowly use the same drill bit and slowly 'sand' it to make a big hole. Here's the final result.

And then I cut an acrylic that is larger than the cut.

I didn't make it a nice cut because you will not see it (the edges).

DSC00934_zps72fc7059.jpg

And then god of tapes will appear for the first time in this build.

DSC00935_zps21caf953.jpg

DSC00936_zpsb7ee45c5.jpg

And I forgotten that I put the u-channel. It's very difficult than it looks and it requires practise.

Here's my attempt.

So I have nothing better to do.

I used the scotchbrite pad to sand motherboard and the 'bottom part'.

It looks beautiful, it's looks more of a greyish than a black now.

A more gunmental look.

DSC00943_zps419be947.jpg

DSC00944_zps0ecc71a3.jpg

DSC00945_zpsf9a05d8d.jpg

And overall shot and the sides that I also sand.

Details man, detail.

DSC00946_zpsa47289a1.jpg

DSC00947_zps2d5e4fb0.jpg

DSC00948_zps6d5403b2.jpg

And lastly my last pictures till next time.

Next would be hopefully the sleeved cables and then watercooling parts.

I cut out clear acrylics and then sand it to give a frosted look.

I'm satisfied with the result though one side has a small scratch.

It won't be able to be seen after it's all hooked up.
