Required disk partition is missing

Nonco
Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

Yes, delete them if you're doing a fresh install of Windows. I'm not sure why it's screwing up at the moment, but delete the partitions and re-create the main partition, and try again.

Hey,

Basically sisters PC had been messing up, I assumed was a disk issue. We bought a new SSD. Installed it.

Tried to install windows, got stuck on 15% on the second stage of installing for about an hour so assumed something was wrong.

Tried restarting to which the SSD had been partitioned into 4 parts?

Formatted the Primary one and gave an issue when trying to install onto that partition.

Now we are trying diagnostics/troubleshooting and it says "Unable to reset PC. A required drive partition is missing"

Should I go back to that disk menu which shows all the other partitions and delete them or?

Not sure what to do..

Boot from windows installation disc/drive, have only the intended drive for your OS plugged in (or at least know which partitions belong to it like Disk 0 or Disk 1 etc), delete all partitions from intended OS drive, select to install on that drive without manually creating partitions. Windows will automatically create the required partitions.

You need to create the main partition that the user will see. The System Reserved partition will be formed automatically.

I managed to delete the partitions and have started the installation process again. However unfortunately it seems to be stuck on 15% again on "Getting files ready for installation" :(

I didnt create a new partition however, could this be causing issues if it started the install process regardless?

I would try creating a partition to see if that helps.

Should it just be the size of the drive or slightly smaller?

Pick the maximum size allowed(whatever the default size is that appears). Windows will automatically adjust for the System Reserved partition.

Maybe he can try to just install it fully on his disk and add a partition later in Windows?

Did this and it has passed the 15% issue. I also checked the install disk and looked like it had marks, cleaned that too. Thanks for the help :)

Did you clean the disc after the installation process or before?
