New Internet Solution

I would like to redo my entire internet solution. I am not experienced with the terms that is used for internet things so bare with me. I have a 5ghz and a 2ghz network running the stock equipment.  What should I do to make this setup better? What type of router should I buy? Feel free to ask me any questions if i did not provide an answer.
