Network connection issues.

So. I recently re-installed my PC with Windows 7 due to some issues I had with my previous installation. All of wich seem to be fixed now, I guess that's what you get for not re-installing for a couple of years. Anyway, a new issue has reared it's ugly head and it's bothering me quite a bit. Evey 40 - 50 minutes or so, my PC gets disconnected from my network for no aparent reason. I get the yellow warning sign over my internet connection icon, and I can't connect to anything. I pull out and plug in my ethernet cable again and it all works fine and dandy. But you can imagine that it's quite the annoyance. So, does anyone know why this may be happening? LAN drivers? Faulty cable?

Thanks in advance.

It could be anything really. If you have someone else on your network with a laptop, they might be closing it and then opening it back up. This might cause some sort of ip address conflict and it would kick you offline.

My suggestion is to set a static ip. Follow this tutorial:

Use a really high number like 192.168.1.101

Didn't work. Thanks anyway.

Anyone else have any ideas what might be wrong?

The default setting for most router's DHCP servers is 50 clients. ARP takes care of conflicts unless you've played with things, then it's your fault. And dear god do not configure your home equipment statically. Static DHCP leases configured via your router is the best way to do it. Also, using Google's DNS servers will degrade your experience with any website using a CDN such as Akamai.

OP, next time this happens can you do an ipconfig to see what you're actually missing? Also, having updated drivers is good practice. Aaaand I just got a popup saying I'm 20 revisions of Java behind.

Try moving your wireless to WPA/WPA2 to just WPA2. (similar to that anyway)

As for everything, I try to always run static IP's as I can easily manage things and have a nice clean network.

That fixed a lot of issues with my mobile devices randomly dropping out.
