Nvidia GPUs direct competitors

Hi all!

 

Since I find really complicated the names of the AMD GPUs and don't know if it means they are good or not compared to Nvidia, which is way simpler: GTX 960, 970, 980, etc. I would like to know the direct competitors (from AMD) to the Nvidia GPUs!

 

Example: AMD *GPU name here* is the competitor to 970

gtx 970: r9 390 

gtx 980: r9 390x, r9 fury/nano

The 1070 and 1080 don't have any Polaris competitors as of now.
