USB WiFi MOD Question

I just want to ask if what I think will work...

 

So I want to buy this: TPLink TL-WN722N 150Mbps Wireless USB Adapter for my PC at my room, and then connect it to USB extension and then mount it inside a pringles can to theoretically boost its signal... So my question is, will it work?

 

Currently I am using my phone to tether its WiFi to my PC.

Yes, such a can may be used to construct a higher-gain antenna.  No guarantees that it'll work as well as you think, but no harm in trying.

I tryd things like this when i had to use an hotspot on the otherside of the road, it worked but when there was anything between it it or coudnt pickup the wifi hotspot anymore or signial was given but no traffic i orderd an wifi long range antenna from ebay for 17 dollar and it worked fine since

I'll try this anyway, because I need to use other thing other than my phone as my internet connection to the WiFi. I just need some inputs and your thoughts thanks!

How about just people walking around, will it cut the internet? Will it work even not line-of-site, because I will put it inside my room and has a wall in between me and the router.

I had it like this, when someone or something walks / drives in the gray the signial speed drops.

At night i had an stable 5/1 Sometimes 10/2 but thats when all cars are gone from the driveway and the wifi / hotspot is nice

When big cars or small cars with havy radio antennas come by the signial sometimes drops or drops to 0.10 / 0.01 

 

with the Can antenna (what you wanna try) the signial never went higher than 3/0.5 but thats maybe because it was not powerfull enough when cars or people walked infront it dropped compleatly with the extern antenna its much better.

Do you have line-of-site or you also have a wall in between? Because in my situation wall is in between my PC and the router. I hope it will work though...

1 wall atm because i mounted it outside

 

with the can antenna i had it infront of a window dont know if it made a difference

Depends on a few factors. Firstly do you get a good signal from your router? If so, is the WIFI card in your device having issues connecting to your router? Some times the router can go the distance but the WIFI adapter can. However, this is only going to strengthen the WiFI card, so if you have signal issues with your router it wont work properly. You may have to do a similar mod to your router and point the directional antenna's at each other.
