So there is a vertical blue line running down the center of my old 21.5inch 2011 Imac. I took a screenshot and it wasn't there so it's not a GPU issue. I assume its either the panel or a connector issue. Should I remove the LCD and put it back in to see if it works? Any suggestions appreciated.

Definitely a panel issue, not much you can do though, since it's an AIO, and, well, a MAC

Well, great. I can buy a new panel for $150 on ifixit or buy an external monitor and use that. Just don't want this to go to waste. Ah well I'm giving it to my brother once I upgrade to refurbished mac pro (Yes i know it is outdated and overpriced, but its the most powerful thing apple makes but I'm not a fan of windows and I need Logic Pro X which is apple exclusive. Also the mac pro isn't an AIO so I wont run into this problem again...)

You can replace the screens, but it's a pain in the ass. You need a heatgun, some patience, and some courage. Pretty sure Ifixit has some guides on panel replacement for iMacs.

Thankfully this is an old one so the glass is magnetic and i don't need a heatgun.

Consider a hackintosh, or do you value your sanity?

I would do a hackintosh, but i'm not a huge fan of illegal activities. I'm also not sure how stable those things are. I feel like so much could go wrong. If only Mac OS was a standalone. *sigh

Stability, after initial set up, not that bad. It's the set up that's a pain. And it isn't really illegal if you buy a legitimate copy of MacOS (which you can do).

You can buy a standalone copy of Mac OS? if thats the case i might seriously consider a hackintosh.

It's not really illegal, but it's a super touchy subject on the forum. I got yelled at yesterday for leaking specifics on how to go about it

Yes. It can be a pain to setup after dealing with a couple boot loaders, popping GPUs in and out, but it's not that bad.

you used to be able to do this, but now you have to go about it a different way, needs a real mac.

Yeah, wasn't sure if I should've brought it up. That's why I haven't done one myself, actually, couldn't justify to parents spending 20 bucks on something that might not work.

you can do it for free if you have the right motherboard and a real mac, figure it out yourself.

Apple doesn't follow conventional rules of "logic." They prefer "courage." That's why they got rid of the headphone jack, right?

xD hey there next move of "courage" is going to be to remove the screen on the next iphone. and then after That there just is no product, you just pay apple $600
