Help! Driver update screwed up computer: EDIT: Fixed

david31160

So I updated to the latest nvidia driver and then my screen went black and all I saw was my cursor and it was like that for like 10 minutes than I panicked and hit the reset button and now my computer is stuck on a screen with the windows dots loading thing and it has been like that for like 10 minutes. What should I do I'm totally panicking right now?

EDIT: So I thought I fixed it but for some reason it still doesn't work. If I plug my dvi cable into my motherboard and use the integrated graphics it says the graphics driver crashed. I have reinstalled nvidia drivers 5 times all different versions and it still won't work. If I plug my cable into my gpu when my PC turns on it still gets stuck on the black screen with the spinny windows loading thing. I don't have any other PCs to test the card in (well maybe I can put it in the server). Plz help need to game.

EDIT 2: I think I might have to tweak some bios settings but it's late at night where I live and I have to sleep

Reset CMOS, try booting into safe mode or without your GPU and uninstalling drivers

I disabled my gpu in the bios and my PC boots into windows now do I have to reinstall the graphics driver now?

I'd uninstall em with DDU (never used it but heard it recommended), then boot with the GPU and have Windows fetch the latest update itself.

Thanks!

I used ddu to uninstall the drivers but my screen was still black after I rebooted but unplugging and replugging my hdmi cable fixed it (somehow)

I have that issue sometimes also. I have a GTX 970 and when I get a skype notification my screen becomes black. CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't work either. I have to unplug my HDMI cable and plug it back in for it to work.

UPDATE: If anyone else is having issues use 368.81 driver it apears that anything newer than that will mess up my computer.
