ok, so would i put the standoffs in before the mobo ormobo then standoffs? Would they go into the screw holes?

They screw into the case, and then the motherboard sits on top of the standoffs. I bet if you were to place the motherboard on its box, and power the system again, it'll turn on just fine.

No. Remove the motherboard from the chassis, and put it on its box with all of the components installed and connected as before, and turn it on(you'll have to short the pins for the power button to tell the system to turn on).

Oh, so remove the mounts and remove from case, then put on box, connect and try to power on

Can probably just put the header for the power button on if the wire is long enough and not attached to the case.

Yes, but be sure it's resting on the box.

Yes, but to me it's more convenient to just short the pins together with a screwdriver if the board is not mounted within the case. Kind of circumstantial though.

Remove the card and see if the system POSTs.

Okay, so that's an issue. I was hoping you would have integrated graphics.

Do you have another graphics card you can put in the system temporarily? Is the HDMI cable plugged in fully on both ends?

The motherboard probably has its own integrated graphics. A rarity, but it does happen.

If everything is functional, including the HDMI port, cable, etc, then we have another issue. It's not necessarily as simple as "just use Displayport or DVI." You're assuming the card is functional. I'm not making any assumptions.

First off the chance of the graphics card being bad is slim he might need to try a different cable

That's why I asked him again about it. But again, this goes back to my point: It's not necessarily that simple. I didn't claim his card is bad. My claim is that it could be bad, and statistically speaking, it could be.
