Hi! So I recently assembled a build and I plugged everything in. Then when I go to turn it on, the fans spin, then stop, no POST. Nothing. So, I have no idea whats going on, I've checked the PSU, and the CPU, and RAM, they all are OK  I also replaced the motherboard. So do you have any idea whats going on? Halp?

Take it out and see if the system responds the same way.

Powered through PCIE? Do you mean PCIE slot or PCIE PSU cable?

I'd hope the latter.

Technically, cards are powered through both. PCIe slots provide up to 75W of power for video cards.

Well yeah, so I suppose any system would post regardless.

No, the 460 draws power straight from the MoBo, doesn't need a PSU cable (I think it's cause of the 75 W max limit through the slot). That's fine.

Oh. wow. News to me.

@Doughmay, do you have an LED screen telling you a two-digit number, or a motherboard speaker at hand?

This might be a stretch, but try resetting the CMOS. Is the motherboard touching the case at all directly?

Is that literally the only LED on your motherboard? Sometimes they have LEDs that are either on/off to display the status of different components. Check your manual to see if it references anything of the sort.

You may also want to check your manual and ensure that 1 DIMM is in the first slot of a (or one of the) dual channel pairs. To my knowledge, throwing a DIMM in slot 3 aint gonna do you any favors.

Nah, the CMOS resets to defaults, if the MoBo's new (and he also changed it out for another one) CMOS won't do anything.

I know it resets to defaults, but I'm not ruling it out just because it's "brand new." That's not necessarily proper testing. It may not be likely, but I can't just ignore it because of that.

4 slots, and looking through the guide it only identifies one LED

If it's touching the back panel(and if my understanding is correct), the motherboard is shorting out.

Back panel to me is the panel the motherboard is mounted to. But that doesn't seem like that's the case.

EDIT: Are you using standoffs?
