So after realizing that black switches take too much force to type with, red switches take too little (typo city) and blues type nicely but are too loud, it seems like Cherry MX Browns will be my switch of choice (the only ones I haven't been able to try, ironically).

So it struck me as happily coincidental when the Ripjaws KM780 popped up as a Newegg shell shocker. I'd been planning on a Corsair, but am open to other brands. Anyone have experience with this keyboard, or with G.Skill keyboards, even brown switches in general?

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

I have experience with the blue switch version. though to be frank the boards are the same just different switchers. I love mine, extremely sturdy, does have some weight to it, the palm rest is a hard plastic with grip, love the metal volume wheel, love the mouse wire holder that gives my mouse slack. The rail on the keyboard is very useful I found, I made a stand for my lg g3 and it clips on the rail. Very good keyboard for the price. I too got mine when it was on a shell shocker. Anyway the software is ok, the way you can load a macro profile is very straight forward and easy, pretty much make a doc and load it up. Other than that I really enjoy mine.

I currently use a Corsair K70RGB with brown switches. Personally, I chose brown after trying out all the switches in-store. They don't feel as "mushy" as reds and offer the same tactile "bump" you feel on blue switches, but without nearly as much noise as blues. They still click a little, but are overall truly the happy medium between quiet but mushy reds and tactile but loud blues. Don't know about G.Skill keyboards though.
