MX300 525GB M.2 SSD doesnt show up anywhere

Hello,

as the tittle says:

My mobo: ASUS MAXIMUS VII Hero

Win 10 64-bit

M.2 SSD: Crucial MX300 525gb ssd 

 

What i have done:

installed newest bios

inserted the ssd into the m.2 slot

set that slot in bios to M.2 mode

installed crucial software on the site for drives dunno if it is related

 

I cannot find the disk in Bios, in my computer or in Disk management.

 

The m.2 is brand new.

 

Any ideas?

MX300 are SATA drives not PCIe - check that

yeah but they have mx300 m.2 ssd and i already set the pcie slot to m.2 mode.

mate, m.2 is not a mode, is a form factor, a connector

modes are PCIe and SATA, check the manual

that's something else entirely, and from what I see you instrcted the m.2 slot to run in PCIe mode

and you need to run it in SATA mode

Well i have seen people where it worked no problem. there is a lot of threads about it and also some videos and i dont understand when it works on Maximus VII Ranger but should not on Hero when hero is the higher model

yes, that is not a PCIe drive, it's a SATA drive - look at the read and write speeds, typical for a SATA III interface

but it says its m.2 type 2280 ssd and in manual for VII Hero board it says support for 2260/2280 storage devices so it should be ok.

mate, that is a connector - m.2 is a connector

m.2 supports SSDs (SATA and PCIe), WiFi cards, cellular cards, etc

 

2260 and 2280 are standardized lenghts

can't you return the SSD if it's brand new? doesn't your country have like 14days return or something like that? you should, Slovakia is part of EU

bought it in switzerland, not going back there for another year

yeah, i got one 525 gb and one 275gb ... yaaaaaay 200 together thrown out of the window. Well i didnt think that even the stupid M.2 will have different f-in types....
