I had the same problem. I defragged and optimised and it started working better again.

on an HDD this will always happen for several minute after booting ( love you SSDs). Also, in windows, it sometimes will randomly start a virus scan, using your HDD, throttling you in pretty much everything else. Its extremely annoying, and you can't disable it. Happened to me all the time until I switched to an SSD, now its just too fast to matter.

 

As someone else said, defragment your HDD, that could help a little if it hasn't been recently.

The thing is everything is to slow to the point where it would take 10-20mins to even get to the button to defrag let alone defrag.

If you don't try anything, it won't fix anything. Its either that, or you simply wipe the entire drive and hope it fixes it (and lose all your data).
