Hey there

I'll be looking to purchase the final parts of this build on wednesday evening.

It's going to be used for content creating, gaming & all around normal PC stuff.

It's my first build I'll ever make and hopefully one that will last me for years.

Although I'm a little stuck on what CPU cooler to use as the 230T which i've already

brought is excluding a few options due to its size

1. PSU is overkill, a 650w will do fine.

2. Any cooler will fit including the Dark Rock 3.

I would recommend  Hyper 212 Evo for light overclocks or a Dark Rock 3 or Noctua NH D14 for heavier overclocks.

Apart from that, it looks all compatible and good to build.

I suck a typing, preparw for typos.

The PSU is giving me room for an SLI.

What do you think of the posts online about the Dark Rock 3 bending the skylake cpus?

True, future upgradeability.

The bent chips were due to people overtightening the cooler against the chip. So if you hand tighten it won't be an issue. if you are still worried then maybe look into a 240mm rad AIO.

looks OK, but the PSU is way to overkill, maybe pick something less power hungry, maybe the corsair VS650?

The PSU was originally 550w but I upped it because I'm not sure if I want to SLI or not, It's cheaper for me to up the PSU now instead of having to buy another one in the future.

SLI shouldnt need more power AFAIK

Too big, Even the H100i is too big for this case. If you were meaning a 240mm liquid cooler (Sorry first time builder here, not fimiliar with all the abbreviations)

So you think I don't have much of a chance of damaging my cpu with the dark pro considering I'll be doing it by hand? Would that fit in the 230T? it looks big.

SLI does need more power, plus if they ever decide to upgrade to a 1080 Ti aftermarket in the future the extra power can help as well.

thats why i said AFAIK, i dont want to start a flame war, k?

Is there any downside to having a big more power if I find a single 1070 to be good enough?

Oh, it will fit according to the Spec sheet http://www.corsair.com/en-au/graphite-series-230t-windowed-compact-mid-tower-case-rebel-orange

If you installed the Dark Rock 3 by hand there will be very little chance of damage, try not to overtighten because if you do then that's where the issues appear. Yeah it will fit, the case has a 165mm clearance, and the cooler is 160mm.

I have a few games and stuff on disks & also a few personal things like funerals etc. Would be better to have it. What's wrong with the devastator keyboard and mouse combo? I'm not looking for anything too fancy just one that will do the job asked of it.

Up to you.  I put one in my machine three years ago.  I don't know if I would put one in today.

You can always go with an external DVD writer.

I've never heard of them externally although external models look cheaper.. why is that?
Is there any downside to having an internal one other than cost?

External drives are usually more expensive... but they are usually close in price.

There is no difference, make sure the external is USB 3.0.
