I have this USB extension hub for my living room HTPC setup, with which to plug in multiple wired controllers to play multiplayer games with my friends. However, I know there are issues with powering these hubs once they reach a certain length, and would like to know if I would be able to power four wired Xbox 360 controllers with just the hub and not the optional power adapter sold separately(I don't have the controllers themselves yet). At this point, my Xbox one controller, connected to the port with a microUSB cable, rumbled and and the home button lit up upon connection, but did not stay lit and the PC repeatedly made the "disconnected device" beep until I unplugged the controller, and showed no signs of successfully connecting to the computer. Any help would be appreciated.

According to the sticker in the battery well, the Xbox One controller wants 480mA of current, which is just shy of the 500mA USB 2.0 will normally supply. The hub itself is going to eat some of that power so it's probably not going to work. You're going to need to get a powered USB hub.
