New Headphones Needed

It's sensible. But technically even if they did break, if you got some like https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RS120-Wireless-Headphones-Charging/dp/B0001FTVEK you would still only be paying a small amount per year. If you do bing rewards you can make about $100 in Amazon gift cards a year and not worry about having to pay for new ones.

So that's always an option. I actually don't know of any models that do both wired and wireless tbh.

Yeah it seems my journey is gonna come to end on that front. The few that I did find had terrible reviews. I guess I'll stick with wired and just deal with being tethered. Found one by Corsair that seems reasonable.

Anyways, thanks everyone for the advice.

Looking for a gaming headset and not sure what's even out there that's good. I don't want a cheap pair of twenty dollar ones that I can get at Walmart nor do I want to drop two hundred. Are there any good headsets out there for around a hundred to a hundred and fifty USD? The only feature I really care about is having a headset that can do both wired and wireless. Two hundred dollars would be my absolute max. I like the look of some of the Razer ones (plus green is my favorite color and would match my build), but I'm hesitant to spend that much. So audio enthusiasts of the Linus community, any advice? Thanks ahead of time!

Imo "gaming headsets" aren't worth it, because you're only really going to care about really good sound when listening to music. So just get a good pair of normal headphones. Although I have heard good things about the HyperX clouds (don't know if they're in budget though lol)

They are good and well within budget but not wireless

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I'd suggest getting headphones and a desk mic or a mic that clips onto them.

However, the HyperX Cloud II's are good. Used to have one. Cloud I may be better if you want cheaper.

Well perhaps not ones marked as 'gaming' but ones that I am going to use for gaming, so I don't know if there are better headphones for that or not.

By the way, what's wrong with Walmart?

Nothing wrong per say, I just don't want to settle for something off the shelf if there are better options online somewhere like Newegg.

Desk mic? Forgive my ignorance, but would that be just something that plugs into USB or something? For some reason I envision myself leaning over every time in order to speak and I think that'd get on my nerves after awhile, lol. Thanks for the advice though, gonna check those out.

For real? Damn, guess ya gotta pay if you want both. What would be the cheapest?

For wireless, they're either $100 or under, or above $200-$300 from the looks of it. The $100 ones like the Logitech G930 don't seem to have favorable reviews.

Why not pick up a wired one and one of these https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Extension-Cable-Male-Female/dp/B00NH11PEY/

Tbh I never thought about getting that extender but on my next Amazon purchase I'mma toss it in. My m40x has a super long cable but these RIG 500e's are super short. Thank you for helping me! *marks your post as the answer* :D

Edit: I found they have a USB 3.0 extender instead https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Extension-Cable--Male--Female/dp/B00NH134L6/ so just fixing this.

I'm not worried about running out of cable, my thoughts are actually more long term and might even be irrelevant. But my thought is that over time the ability of the wireless headset to hold a charge will diminish, and eventually it won't last long at all. So I figure if I had a wired ability then I could use it when I don't feel like burning up the battery, or when I plan on sitting fairly still like watching a movie. And if the battery did go belly up, I could still use them as wired to maximize my money's worth.

Make sense? I know it's probably a pretty stupid idea, but I just don't want to drop two hundred bucks only to have it break a year or two later.
