Hi

 

Most times I boot up Windows 10 it is defaulting to my in-built monitor speakers (which, needless to say, are shite), rather than my AV receiver. Every single time I disable all speakers apart from my preferred speakers, as well as (redundantly) setting the only enabled speakers as default, and every time Windows boots this is forgotten, and this is royally pissing me off right now.

 

Is there any way to make disabled speakers stay disabled, and for it to actually default to the default speakers?

 

This is only an issue since the anniversary update.

Same. After the update it default to my monitor. I have set my headphones to default but it changes every reboot

Windows 10 is a nicer OS imo apart from specific issues. And Windows 7 isn't immune to this kind of thing either. It's not getting major feature updates any more, but it's still getting security updates, and so one of those could potentially break something just as much as it can in Windows 10. The root cause is that people like Barnacules are no longer employed to test updates for stuff like this before they are rolled out, and that issue is Microsoft-wide, not Windows 10 specific.
