Hello All,

I'm looking for a SSD to store data. I already have a PCIe SSD for my operating system drive and just want a SSD for a quiet data drive and a drive that doesn't need to spin up unlike HDDs. I need SSDs which are around 1-2TBs.

The main things I'm concerned about in order of importance are:

1. SSD failure rate.

2. Cost - About as important as failure rate.

3. Warranty

4. Speed - Not that worried about the transfer speeds as I will just be storing stuff like photos, documents, music, in it.

Also, is it wise to buy a SSD off eBay? If I do buy it off eBay or other online sites how do I test properly it to make sure it's not a fake and has the correct volume?

Thanks in advance.

only buy new and sealed off ebay, the Samsung magician software should be able to detect if the drive is genuine.

well remember Ebay is a STOREFRONT, your not actually buying Ebay itself, BOTH reputable companies like Newegg and that crappy neighbor that rips people off can sell stuff on ebay so "ebay" is WAY to broad a term to be ruled in or out outright.

Just buy new from reputable companies and you should be fine.

850 evo is best. it has good quality with 5 year warranty

I second that, although the HyperX Savage which comes in 240, 480 & 960GB versions is fairly cheap but made of MLC memory. Which is supposed to last the longest at the sacrifice of a little speed. Although it only has a 3 year warranty so that's a con but for simply a backup drive I bet it'd serve ya well.
