I would like an amazon echo dot, but they are not realeased yet, I was wondering if there is any alternative for the same or less price that does the same stuff.

Most phones(andriod and iphones) hey a voice reckongiting adn will do the same thing.

 

With iphones at least you can have them always listening for hey siri.

I'm looking for something to be able to connect to my surround sound, to play music and stuff, btw I'm talking about the Amazon Echo Dot 2

You can turn a RPi into an amazon echo.

No it's not always listening, you have to push a button to activate it.
