Hi, I am planning to build my first PC this Christmas/Thanksgiving season.  I currently have two builds on PCPartPicker (http://pcpartpicker.com/user/N3v3r3nding_N3wb/saved/VD8K8d vs. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/thBGJV) that I'm considering.  I'm planning on gaming, mostly, but also doing some game development on UE4 and Cryengine.  I was wondering if the 5820k would offer a big performance gain in the game engines.  I plan on buying all/most of my parts during sales (mostly Black Friday) but my hard cap for price is 2,000 dollars. Thank you all, and if you can suggest better parts choices, is be grateful.

P.S., I do plan on making better build names ?

°game development ->i7. I own i5 6600K and I regret not spending a few bucks more for photo editing (while it has same games perfs once OC'd)

°i5 6600K is good (loving it) but is it good enough to sustain GTX 1080 ? don't think so. Either give 1070 to both builds or give 1080 to the i7

°love ITX builds, prefer Phantek case and it's well cooled

°go for 3000/3200 mhz DDR4, it does make a difference for 20$... Avexir can be OC'd though, good tastes

as the situation is right now, I would recommend the i7 build.

Alright, thanks.  I forgot to mention it, but I also plan on 3D modeling all of my games' assets, at least until I can find someone to help me.  I figured that the prices wouldn't drop low enough, but if they do, I'll get both a 1080 and a 5820k.

keep the i7 6700k and enjoy Z170 board with its USB 3.1 gen2..... it's another world and will probably help you more than enough to a point you wouldn't see any difference with a 5820K

Eh, I think I'll stick with the board I have.  It's cheaper without 3.1, and I think that I'll be fine with it.  I still have to buy my first car, so anything more expensive than what I already have would be too much.

Thank you, people who posted.  I think that I've made my decision: 6700k with the 1080.  I hope you all have wonderful days.  Bye-bye.
