Is the 950 a good value?

Indeed, it seems like the 1050 would be perfect for me if the $120 price is confirmed.

you might even consider spending a little little more for the 1050ti if it proves to be as good as 750ti was for casual gaming :)

Hi,

I have a budget gaming build with a GTX 750 2GB and a core i3 4130. When the 1060 was announced I really considered buying one, but now I can see that the price of the 950 has dropped a lot, and I can find new ones at just above $100, which is half the price of the cheapest 1060. Should I consider getting a 950 then? I'd like to add that I play at 1080p, max settings preferably, and not necessarily the latest games. The games I'll be playing in 2017 are GTA V, Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Crew, FIFA, NBA 2K. These are basically the only "recent" games. The other may be as old as Age of Empires 3... Again, just 1080p, no dual monitors or VR. Do you think the 950 would be enough, and it would be a solid upgrade over the 750?

Thanks

Those games listed are fairly demanding if you're expecting to play them at max settings @1080p 60FPS. I'd probably opt for the GTX 1060 6GB if you wish to do so.

Interesting. I don't care that much about playing at 60 fps. Anything at 30 fps and above would be fine, and I can see that the 750 can handle these games in mid to high settings.

The RX 460 is another option. A little slower in GTA, much faster in Rise of the Tomb Raider.

But it's true that a little more oomph could be needed for those games. So it would be worth waiting for the 1050 and 1050 Ti launch and see how they stack up against the RX 460 and 470.

Just a guess. The old PS4 is similar to a 750Ti. While the new PS$ Pro has about double the graphics performance. That puts it between 960 and 970.

OG PS4 is like a R7 370........ but way lower clock speed.

The new PS4 Pro is like RX 480.
