The Hero is about $60 more... Are their any benefits in terms of features or IO on the Hero board compared to the Pro?

motherboards dont impact performance as much nowadays as they used to (when comparing boards with the same chipset), but what is difference are features. This means IO, pcie slots, leds, etc. pick the one that you think will work better with what YOU need

maximus has 2 extra usb 2.0 ports but the pro has a dvi port
