Hello eveeyone i Just got an Old Hand me Down Notebook from my dad but it is super slow so i did some Research and found Out it only has 1GB of ram and a Atom N450 Professor so i am thinking about upgrading it to a D2550 Professor and 4GB of ram. The Laptop Model is a NP-N230-HAV1DE. Would that be possible? Do i need to consider something Special? I,ve alread searched for a D2550 but i couldnt find one.

keep in mind that processor upgrades are not always supported on laptops/custom mobo's. while the socket and chipset may match it still might not work, its worth a try though. the extra ram will beneft you mostly would be my guess. but don't expect it to run smooth, it will never do that.

Why will it never Run smooth? 2 cores and 4gigs of ram seems fine to me

most laptops don't have socketed cpus you you may only be able to change the ram and storage. grab a ssd and some more ram

You can't change processors, especially not on an Atom mobo. Don't bother spending money on upgrades. Save as much as you can and wait for Black Friday and get a $99-199 cheapo laptop then.

the cpu is incredibly under powered either way, multitasking will be not possible at all, i doubt it will run youtube videos smoothly in hd. intel atom is nothing compared to i3's clockspeeds or anything like that. atom is designed for low power usage, i doubt that a 5ghz atom would be comparable to a 3,5 ghz i3. single core performance wise an i3 at 1,5ghz is way faster than an intel atom clocked at 2,4 ghz.
