What the heck is wrong with dis coil whine

Evann

Wow, got my brand new Sapphire R9 Fury. Listen to that at full volume (it is even louder in reallity.. can't record that good with smartphone) ..

i wanted to imediatly go for the Overclocking, and started Stress testing with FurMark, the second the program starts (even with only around 90FPS) this sound comes up.

It is so freaking loud.

I can hear it with closed case, while beeing out of my room with closed door.

So a knew there would be Coil Whine, but this can't be normal..

o.O

Oh yea, and the Fury can't hold it's clockspeed..

It's set to maintain 1100mhz, but never gets higher than 975mhz..

that doesn't sound like coilwhine at all, sound like the wind blowing on your mic

yea.. it does.. you have to turn your volume up to hear the coil whine..

.. sounds like an electrical razor.

It's not that loud if you have to turn the volume up that high to hear.  Really bad coil whine is pretty easy to capture in a video.

requesting new video or audio clip, please put it stationary at the gpu and right next to it with the mic poited towards it

you should hear it now without any Problem.. first 3 seconds without stresstest.

got a MSI 1070 Armor

btw since it's brand new you can probably return it, idk your laws tbh, or maybe RMA it if it cant keep a clock?

so i played witcher 3 for 10 mins now, it is able to hold it's clockspeed just fine. Anyhow it just can't during stresstest .. weird.

Bad news: Coil whine is there, extremely loud - even ingame (around 60 FPS) ..

thought it would start after a couple hundred.. darn

ok, it's getting weird now - when i play witcher, i hear massive coilwhine, the second i go into the menu - it's gone..

shouldn't it be the other way around wtf?

If you have Vsync on or limited FPS, the menu won't coilwhine anything. Unlock the FPS and put Vsync off and the menu will give you REAL coilwhine.

but why is there a coilwhine when i play witcher on ultra?

because it stresses your GPU. the less stress, the less coilwhine.

so should i RMA it, or will the new card have the exact same problem?

you can try RMAing it, but it's not sure to go through. if it won't go through, can you return it to the retailer and get your money back?

we got a law here, withing 14 days the retailer has to take the product back for whatever reason. he has to.

then do that if the coilwhine is too loud.

lets say it like that, it would be unplayable (IMO) without headphones..
