So my friend started having this happen to him in games (moreso in 3D games) and occasionally blue/purple flickering. It appears to be coming off of other players/chickens (don't know if that means anything).

 

He's also had missing letters and just general flickering whilst browsing Windows. Originally I thought it would be linked to software because it wouldn't artfiact in the bios but after the problem recurring in my PC as well I dunno. 

 

I put it in my PC to see if it does it there and it did so the problem is definitely linked to the GPU, I'm quite confident we'll probably have to use the warranty (but I really would prefer not to have to), however if anyone could have any advice/input on this it'd be much appreciated.

 

Notes:

- GPU is a Gigabyte 290 Windforce 

- No overclocks .

- This only started happening a little bit after installing a new OS on the PC.

- GPU had been running fine for a year and a bit before this started happening.

- Temps are good. 

- Degree of artifacting appears to be dependent on load.
