Long story short, I'm not a modder. I'm just a guy with a probably too ambitious idea, especially for a noob. I want to make my case bleep and bloop at me like many classic depictions of advanced computers in sci-fi. For example, if I insert a removable drive into a 3.5 bay, I want a certain sound to play. When I remove it, I want a different sound to play. Ideally, I'd prefer to somehow get the hardware signal and trigger off that, probably with something like a raspberry pi with a speaker hooked up to it. I don't want to rely on Windows because I'd also like to make it semi-practical and be able to have status messages relayed through the sounds in, basically, real time and let me audibly monitor my PC. In essence, I want the hardware to be able to "talk" to me beyond simple POST beeps. I figure I can cheat in a couple ways with a couple switches here and there and accomplish the same effect, but if I'm crazy, then might as well go all the way. I understand there's no direct way to "just" connect a pi to a motherboard and plug and play it. According to my thinking, I might need some kind of interceptors for devices I want to make "talk," but, as I said, I've never modded before and kinda have no idea where to practically start. How should I proceed, if I even should?

I'm fine with evaluating expensive options. If necessary, saving up is a thing. The build this would go into probably won't come to fruition until around the Zen release anyway so I can see that the AMD folks have been doing.

Be sure to quote other people's posts, as I did here, so they get a notification you said somthing!
