Then yeah what @monjessenstein said. Everyone on your system is fine, the SSD would cause noticeable speed increases for little cost. Clean your drive to a decent state and you can move the HDD OS to the SSD and really not lose anything.
By cleaning your drive, I mean cleaning it to match the amount of space on the SSD.
(If HDD has 500GB of files on it, move all NON-OS files to a backup. Or purchase a 512GB SSD, shrink to fit.)
