Mobile processors

Go to solution Solved by AndyCapets,

Mobile processors are just renamed (bare with me here) desktop processors, made for laptops, so with a different architecture and way less performance, like the I7 you talked about, it's sort of a 4930k, but not as powerful and not made to be OC'd, and made for laptops. And it's so expensive because it's not made to be sold separatly to the average consumer.

Just when i thought i knew about computers i see mobile processors on scan.co.uk

So what are they? They seem quite quick and some are quad cores.

Whats the difference and what are they used for if bought individually? Notebooks? Laptops?

Like the intel i7 4930mx is over £800, so is it better than some of the high end desktop cpus?

What would that be used for?

Thanks guys a nice detailed description would be greatly appreciated : )
