Bad framerate in modded minecraft randomly?

Go to solution Solved by Mr.Meerkat,

Try reinstalling the mod/MC but it could just be the mod screwing with config files or something :P

Hi, I'm running shaders with a 256x texture pack and i used to get around 100fps. For some reason now, I am getting around 70fps on a superflat world and 30-50 on a normal world in the exact same version with the same settings and drivers. The game also seems to be eating all of the 8GB ram allocated. I have a GTX970 and an i7 4790 and temperatures are good on both. How can I fix this? Is it just a java problem because it could be leaking memory or something?

Try doing a complete reinstall. Save the important files such as worlds, server list, options file, etc and delete everything in the .minecraft folder and the programfiles (x86) folder and start over

but if the mod has a memory leak doesn't matter if you reinstall it. Still gonna leak.

I would tell you what mine is right now but the speed is so low that it says speedtest.net can't be reached xD

From a security standpoint, I completely agree with them since it might be possible to have a malicious payload inside a .nif or .dds file though I've never heard of it happening before. From a gamer's standpoint, it is complete BS.

It's good not just for security because people are going to expect a modded game to work exactly like a vanilla version of the game.

Well, changing the settings is now affecting performance so i turned down the render distance by 2 and changed some other optifine stuff and now on superflat I'm getting 120, and on my world i'm getting 75-80. It's not as good as it was but it's good enough to play with! 30fps is console peasant framerate...

I'd look at any lighting mods. Typically, I haven't noticed any other sort of mod really have any significant impact. Granted, that's a private LAN server, but...

Lighting mods though... I think it's because Minecraft can't properly utilize the entire CPU, but they kill FPS.

Stuff like dynamic lights especially.
